Baroque Gilders Wax
✨ The ultimate upgrade for your DIY casting kit ✨

Add a pop of colour or a rich metallic sheen to your creations with this gorgeous wax-based finish.

Baroque Gilders Wax is one of my go-to products for adding highlights and detail to stone and plaster castings. The results are stunning - soft metallic highlights that catch the light just right, while the resessed and details remain dark. If you want to accentuate the detail and skin texture, then guilders wax is for you.

These 30ml tins provide enough wax to paint dozens of casts, so they're ideal for both professionals or hobbyists alike.

For best results, prime your casts black with either Rustoleum Flat Black Primer (sold in spray cans at major hardware stores), or hand paint a thin layer of black gesso primer.

You can apply it straight from the tin using your finger, a soft cloth, a sponge or soft paintbrust.
Baroque waxes can be used together, blending colours to get custom tones or layered effects. A little goes a very long way!

Good to know:

  • Works on resin, polymer clay, metal, wood, ceramic, etched glass and more

  • Dries to the touch in around 10–15 minutes

  • Fully cured and non-tacky in 12 hours

  • Can be layered for unique finishes

  • 4 UV-resistant colours to choose from

Tip: For best results, black prime your casts first to give the wax something to grip onto and reflect off.

Heads up: These tins sometimes arrive a little cracked or dry-looking (thanks to the nature of the product), but don't worry—they’re still perfectly usable. Just revive them with a drop or two of mineral spirits and you’re good to go.

🎨Perfect for:

  • Upgrading any of our DIY Casting Kits

  • Refreshing or repainting older home casts

  • Gifting to creative friends who love the little details
