Hygedent alginate is a high-quality, dental-grade molding material, ideal for capturing incredibly detailed lifecasts. Known for its smooth consistency and quick-setting properties, it creates fast and precise high-definition moulds, capturing details as fine as skin texture and fingerprints.

With 20 years of lifecasting experience, I’ve tried nearly every alginate on the market. Hygedent is the one I personally use in my professional lifecasting business because it consistently delivers the highest quality results at the best price.

Safe, skin-friendly, and easy to use, Hygedent is perfect for both beginners and professionals.  Its two-phase chromatic color-change feature makes it easy to use, shifting from bright pink when mixed, to baby pink when ready to apply, and turning white once fully set.

Ideal for hands, feet, pet paws, and body casting. With a quick setting time of just 2 minutes, Hygedent minimises the chances of movement during casting. Its tear-resistant formula ensures that the mold holds its shape, resulting in a reliable and accurate impression every time.

Mixing Instructions for Hygedent Alginate
For best results, mix alginate with warm water (between 23-27°C) using either of the following ratios:

  • By volume: Use equal parts powder and water (1:1 ratio).
  • By weight: Use 30 grams of powder for every 90 milliliters of water (1:3 ratio).
  • ie- for baby casts, by volume measure equal amounts of powder and water into two equally sized cups side by side - I call this "cup for cup" measuring.
Or by weight mix 100grams of alginate with 300mls of warm water.

At this temperature and water ratio, you can expect the following timing:

  • 30 seconds for mixing (when the alginate is bright pink)
  • 30 seconds for placing your subject in the mold (as the alginate turns light pink)
  • 30-60 seconds for final setting (when the alginate turns white).

This process ensures a smooth consistency and quick, accurate captures of fine details in your lifecasts.

Hygedent Alginate Impression Material is derived from seaweed, making it compostable, dust-free, and known for its high elasticity and tear resistance.
